IS-MCP — Intrinsically Safe Manual Call Point
The IS-MCP is an intrinsically safe manual call point designed for the manual activation of a fire alarm in indoor hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres may be present. Based on the proven KAC MCP1A world-series platform and certified to EN54-11, it provides reliable local indication and must be installed within an intrinsically safe system using suitable I.S. barriers.
The call point is operated by breaking the frangible glass, which carries a clear vinyl coating to prevent injury and contain fragments; a resettable element is also available by simply changing the operating element, with no additional parts required. A 470 Ohm resistor and normally-open contact are included, and the plug-and-play terminal block reduces installation time.
Certified Ex ia T4 for Zone 0, 1 and 2, its high-visibility red enclosure surface-mounts quickly and helps preserve system integrity — illegal removal of the lid puts the system into alarm.
IMPORTANT! This product must be used with an approved Zener Barrier or Galvanic Isolator. All connections into the product must be made via a suitably rated barrier or isolator — never connect it directly to the voltage supply without a barrier in place, as this will cause permanent damage to the PCB and void the warranty. Installation and connection should only be carried out by appropriately competent and qualified personnel.
Typical applications: oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical plants, refineries, hazardous-area fire systems.
